“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” –1 Corinthians 2:14-15.
Did You Know That We are Filled with the Fragrance of Christ? The cross opened the door to a whole new world. Once we received Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we became part of something far greater than us. No wonder we look and smell different!
Let me illustrate what I mean with this example that God gave me years ago: Many of us have had the opportunity to be around someone who may have either eaten garlic, onions or fish. Would you agree that the aroma that lingers around them definitely points to what they’ve eaten? You can easily identify it. If we stay in God’s presence, it lingers all over us and gives off a fragrance that’s easily identifiable. People always take note of the way you wear God, even if they don’t say so.
Being Different has Master Appeal
People saw that He was different. They didn’t always accept the “different”, but when they needed to be healed, set free or encouraged, they knew exactly where to go. Jesus liked to challenge people’s ideas. He came to bring the Kingdom back to earth and to restore our full rights as sons in that Kingdom. This really provoked the religious leaders of the day to self-righteous anger – no wonder they didn’t like His message.
We are imitators of Christ, reflecting His ideals. Jesus entrusted His message to us in the earth – the message of the Kingdom. In order to be effective in reasoning with the world today, a new breed of Kingdom Ambassadors has to rise up. Diplomats who introduce a new country, a new government – the Kingdom of Heaven here in the earth. We must be knowledgeable concerning God’s big picture so that we can be the difference the world needs.
Attracted to the Light
If we take a look at the light in our kitchen, we will notice that when we switch it on, bugs are attracted to it. It’s the same with us – when we are in God and are switched on, those who don’t know God as Lord and Saviour will be attracted to us. When they come, we simply lead them to Jesus. We proclaim liberty to them and allow Jesus to set them free. Let’s stay filled with God on a continual basis, and develop His heart for the nations. It’s then that we will wear Christ well and be a blessing to the many – by diffusing the wonderful fragrance of Christ and His kingdom everywhere.
