“My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you” –Gal 4:19
Being obsessed with how we look or how we live can be fickle at best. Getting caught up in it puts all of our focus on ourselves and soon we have no time for anything else. God’s Word admonishes us not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought. It doesn’t say we can’t think well of ourselves, but we need to keep it in right priority.
When God told Samuel to anoint a new king (see 1 Samuel 16:7), He told him not to look at his outward appearance. In other words, don’t judge the book by its cover.
Genesis 1:26-28 says that He made us in His image and likeness. What we really need is to have that image polished and reformed in us. The mirror we look into should be God’s Word and it should mature us to the point that the image of Christ is formed in us!
Take action: Today see how you can polish God’s image in you.Take stock of what you are really created to be and make that your priority!
