Hope – an Anchor for the Soul

by Andrew Cartwright

“…We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure”.
–Hebrews 6:19 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE)

Has God given you promises for your life that seem slow in appearing? Hold fast and stay ready to receive! God is faithful. He has started a good work in you and will complete it.

Grab hold and don’t let go! Jacob wrestled with an angel all night, even after suffering a hip injury. The man told him to let him go because it was daybreak, but Jacob refused, saying, “I will not let you go until you bless me“. (Genesis 32:22-31) The man blessed him.

But… what assurance do we have that God’s promises will eventually manifest for us? Here’s the answer: the Bible says we have a hope that anchors the soul. The Bible defines this hope as: “A confident expectation of the future”. This is not the wishy-washy, worldly definition of hope. It is a rock-solid, unshakeable, firm and secure knowledge that what God promised you – is guaranteed to happen.

So, just as the sun rises every single morning without fail, so the promised blessings will appear for you in God’s perfect timing.

I know this – your mind is anchored – firm, secure and immovable on God’s eternal, unchanging Word regarding His promises to you. Get ready… your perseverance will be richly rewarded (Hebrews 10:35)!
